Authored by Kenneth E. Freedland, PhD, the Behavioral Medicine Research Council was established in January 2017 after unanimous approval from the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research, the Society for Health Psychology, the American Psychosomatic Society, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.

As a trusted autonomous joint committee, the BMRC makes it possible to achieve an unprecedented degree of inter-organizational cooperation on the identification of strategic, high-priority research goals.
